List of eligible sponsors for 886 and 176

If you are applying for visa subclass 176 or 886 and you want to be sponsored by a relative.

You need to know the list of eligible relatives who can sponsor you.

Who can be a sponsor?

To sponsor a skilled worker you must be at least 18 years of age and usually resident in Australia as one of the following:

an Australian citizen
an Australian permanent resident
an Eligible New Zealand citizen.

You, your spouse or your interdependent partner must be related to your sponsor as one of the following:

a non-dependent child – including an adoptive or step-child
a parent – including adoptive or step–parent
a brother or sister – including adoptive or step-siblings
a niece or nephew – including adoptive or step–niece or nephew
an aunt or uncle – including adoptive or step–aunt or uncle

Where can a sponsor be living?

Your sponsor can live anywhere in Australia.

Dear J,

i am really confused what i have done plz help me....!!!

First of all i would like to tell you that my brother is Australian PR holder. He married to an Aussie girl and lived illegaly few years in Australia before his marriage but now he is Australian National.

I applied for Student visa and at that time my consultant told me not to show your brother in family tree as his past record is not good and it will create bad impression on Australian High Commission and most probably your student visa will get rejected.

So I do the same, applied for Australian visa without showing my brother in the documents.

Now one serious thing going in my mind. When i will apply for PR after my completion of two years MS, can i show my brother and claim points for skilled sponsored?????

@Ali

Well, I will have to check that with my boss since its a tricky question.

Last of all, don't conceal any thing or provide misleading information.

What goes round comes around.

The department would certainly want to know how come you all of a sudden have a brother in Australia when there was none 2 yrs ago.

Kind Regards

Plz help me man.... Plz get me with some solution. I know thats wrong.... but we had some cases in Pakistan like that and those who showed there bros in australia who stayed illegaly for sometimes and now get legal... there visa was rejected straight away as Embassy said that if ur bro did that thing you will do it the same.... so thats why i hide my brother. But now i need to show him for Skill Sponsored option.. Waiting for some solution

@Ali

I dont think so that the embassy will refuse your visa for a violation committed by your brother.

Thats simply not true.

Well I will have to discuss this with my boss. I am unable to give you any advice at this stage.

There is been observed by many consultants in Karachi that in such cases Embassy reject student visa. I had consult many agents and all of them told me to hide my brother identity while applying for student visa. They had expereienced few cases with the similar nature and none of them got their visa.

Anyhow i have taken this step now, no options left, now i just want to know about PR thing, can I show my brother or not for Skill Sponsored visa ?

I m waiting for your answer, i hope after consulting your boss you will advice me some good :)

Hi junaid,

Its similar to the cases in this section. My sister was in australia for 4 years, but legal under Temp.protection visa. they left the country and have returned back on Employer nomination scheme, which is a permanent visa.

the problem here is that, she has included my name in her application when she lodged her application for ENS. But when i applied for student visa before coming to australia, i didnt include her name in the application.

Can i get points from her..?

your suggestion would be crucial here.

@^^

I discussed the case above with my boss and his reply was that all depends on whether the department wants to raise an objection for not providing complete information or deliberately trying to mislead.

So if the department doesn't raise an objection, you are lucky.

If it does, then bad luck you would need to provide an explanation for not providing complete explanation.

Hi junaid,

With regards to above issues....
Do DIMA trace the student visa application 2 years back when considering/processing the GSM(PR) visa application?

cheers

Yes, DIAC has all the records and every visa application you made is checked for consistency of information provided.

I have recently got approval from ACS for skilled immigration, I am in a similar situation . I am going to apply for Australian PR , I have four step siblings from my mother & one real sister the problem is that I donot have correct information about my step siblings they dnot live with us however I know one of them is in Australia (as Australian citizen) if I show them in my family tree I wont be able to provide 100% correct information about there DOB ( as its officially different than my knowledge) I only know there names & actual DOB I am afrad if I provide correct information it might not match with my step brothers family tree information please help me ,if I hide these details is there a way to track the information given that my mother has visited my step brother in Australia 5 years back now I am not in contact with him neither I am claiming for any additional points

Junaid Noor said...

@Ahmed

Just enter a special note informing the department that you are aware that you have siblings in Australia but since you have never been in touch with them, there where abouts are unknown.

Try to provide as much correct information to the department as possible.

Hi Junaid,

My brother has just recently got his offshore PR visa under ENS scheme and has just landed in Australia a few days ago.
Can i apply for 886 under Eligible Relative sponsorship or is there any waiting period for my brother to sponsor me.
And also my occupation is Accountant. Will my application be on priority base with above 886 visa category.

Your advise would be crucial here.

Thanks & Regards

Junaid Noor said...

@^^

Yes you can apply for 886 onshore or 176 offshore visa which requires 100 points. You will get 5 points for your brother and the rest 95 points you still have to score.

Check the CSL and the MODL to determine if your application will get priority or not.

Priority is given in the following order.

State sponsored
CSL
MODL
Rest of the applicants.

hi,junaid ,my question is not related to the topic just general information.i already applied for my PR in october 2008 and i just wanna know roughly what is the waiting period for the immigration to reply back.
I applied for skill sponsored visa 886.When should i expect the result of my application?

Junaid Noor said...

@Rouro

Q6. How long will it take to process my visa? What about visa processing service standards?

The department is unable to estimate how long it will take to process visas, including those which have already been lodged. The visa processing standards relate to normal processing conditions and are only a guide for the majority of applications. They do not take into account the new priority processing measures which have been introduced as a result of the extraordinary economic situation Australia currently faces.

You do not need to sponsor your sister in law as student.

However, you can show that you will provide financial support in form of rental assistance and living allowances to your sister in law and that will do the trick.

You can show that you will be supporting your brother who is the husband of the primary applicant.

Hope this helps.

Hello.
can my brother-in-law, who is an australian citizen, sponsor me for student visa? All the bank accounts are with his name only, and not yet joint with my sister.
Thanks

For student visas your brother in law can be declared as a financial supporter BUT there is no such thing as sponsoring for student visas.

Student visas require to show proof of financial coverage for the duration of the student visas. You can ask your brother in law to provide that coverage OR ask your father to do it.

But there is no such thing as sponsoring for student visa.

HI Junaid

I came to know that Australian govt has rolled out a new rule for 3 months during which you can sponser your blood relations for study visa. Is it true? Where are you based at in Sydney? Whats your contact number for an appointment.

Rachna

As far as I am aware there is no sponsorship required for student visas.

Although you can list yourself as financial supporter of the person you want to help in getting a student visa. However there is no formal sponsorship mechanism for student visas.

Actually, my father cannot sponsor me but my grandfather is ready to sponsor me. Will i be in problem??

Junaid Noor said...

@Anonymous

There is no such thing as sponsorship. You only need to show that while you are in Australia, you will be able to finance your studies and also pay for your living expenses.

Check the URL below for living costs.

https://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au/global/live-in-australia/living-costs

Now whether this support comes from grand father or father or mother doesn't matter. But the farther you go from your blood line the more difficult it becomes to prove.
