Check this link. The rule is that you can fast track but after fast tracking you must at least have studied for 16 calendar months.

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/885/eligibility-study.htm

You must have met this eligibility requirement in the six months immediately before the date of making your application.

There are two main components of the Australian study requirement.

You must have studied for a minimum of at least 16 calendar months within Australia in a course registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)

and

You must have completed two academic years of study, which is 92 weeks of registered study.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards

thanks a ton for the quick reply...so does the swinburne fast track of 18 months of a 2 year masters degree satisfy this criteria for the two year study requirement of permanent residency ? well wishes..regards!!!

Check with university and confirm if the minimum duration is at least 16 calendar months. If it is minimum 16 calendar months then you will have satisfied the 2 year study requirement.

I applied in the Computing professional Not else where classified category.

What you select in the SOL depends upon your job experience and what you have studied.

You have an amazing blog here. Please advice me on my situation

I am a lawyer in Lahore with a Masters from Netherlands and an LLB from UK and i wish to immigrate to Australia. I have had my skills assessment and I have been told to complete 6 subjects along with Practical Legal Training Requirement. I will complete both these requirements from 2 Graduate Diploma's offered by UTS Law faculty. (each 52 weeks in duration).

As per my understaning by completing these diploma's i will satisfy the 2 year study rule and I will be admitted as a Solicitor in NSW. Please advice if i have a correct understanding of the system here.

Also do i have to apply for the PR within 6 months of study or i can gain some work exp on Graudate Student visa and then apply for PR.

would be glad for your help....thanks a alot.

As per my understaning by completing these diploma's i will satisfy the 2 year study rule and I will be admitted as a Solicitor in NSW.

If these graduate diplomas are of two academic years duration and registered with CRICOS ( most of them are but check again) then yes you have fulfilled the two year study requirement as per rules of today.

Also do i have to apply for the PR within 6 months of study or i can gain some work exp on Graudate Student visa and then apply for PR.

Yes, you can apply after the graduate skilled visa as well. But make sure that immediately after you complete your two yr study, you prepare for the graduate skilled visa application as that too has to be made within 6 months of your study finishing.

I am just wondering what profession would you be nominating on the SOL after your two yr study?

To apply for PR, you need to nominate a profession on the SOL which is closely related to the two yr study you have completed in Australia. So which profession are you planning to apply for?

Kind Regards
